This is Electrolux-Eureka's replacement HEPA filter for the Sanitaire SC5500 and S5000 Eon upright, and the closely related Eureka and Sanitaire S5000A, SC5500A, SC5500B, and SC5505A models. It's sold as part 68904, also listed under the filter code HF50.
A HEPA filter on these uprights is the barrier that keeps fine dust, pollen, and pet dander out of the exhaust air instead of blowing it back into the room. As the media loads with debris over normal use, airflow through the machine drops and the motor has to work harder to pull the same amount of suction. A noticeable loss of pickup, a change in motor pitch, or visible gray buildup across the pleats are the usual signs it's due for replacement.
