This is the rear nozzle cover, part 571005102, for Titan T8000 and TCS973 power nozzles. It closes the top of the head, holds the internals in alignment and keeps the whole assembly rigid; a power nozzle relies on its cover for stiffness as much as for protection.
Covers crack at the screw bosses and around the hinge points, usually after the nozzle has been dropped or wedged under furniture. Once one is broken the head flexes as it works, and that shows up as new vibration, a rattle over hard floors, or a brush roll wearing unevenly because it is no longer held square.
It fits the Titan T8000 and TCS973. With the cover off it is worth checking the belt and the brush roll bearings before you close everything back up.
