Guarding the belt run is the whole purpose of SEBO 3202GS, the gray black drive cover fitted to the DISCO floor polisher in its Ice Blue, Fun and Onyx versions. It closes off the drive side of the power head so hair, carpet fibre, grit and mop strings stay out of the belt path.

These covers fail in ways that have nothing to do with wear. They crack at the clip points when the head is knocked, and more often than not they simply go missing after a belt change, set down on the floor and swept up with the rest of the mess. Either way the machine keeps running, which is exactly why the omission gets ignored. Running the head with the drive exposed leaves the belt 3221 and the motor pulley 3222 open to debris that shortens belt life considerably, and anything long enough to wrap will find its way around the pulley and take the belt off with it. Refitting a correct cover puts the guard back where it belongs, keeps the side of the head tidy and stops a routine consumable from turning into a repeat purchase every few months.
