Returns & Exchanges

The SurfaceSense Lift-Off upright, models 3415 and 3418, runs on the brush roll Bissell catalogs as part 163-5994, and that is the part on this page.

Mounted in the base of the cleaning head, the roll's bristle rows rotate against the carpet nap to lift dirt, sand, and pet hair up where the airflow can carry it into the bin, work that suction alone does only partway on textured or deep-pile carpet.

Hair and thread wind around a roll and pack in hard against the end caps, and left there they load the drive enough to slow it under carpet even while suction at the hose still feels normal. Cut the wrap away with scissors rather than pulling at it, since pulling drags grit through the supports. Check the bristle rows at the same time: once they no longer stand back up after a pass, no amount of clearing restores the agitation and a new roll is the fix.
