Product details
Cap and insert come together under part number 2037477, the assembly that closes off the Bissell steamer, and our fitment data confirms it on the 1711, 2114, 33N8 and 78R5.
Both halves have to be sound for the cap to close properly. What usually goes first is the insert: the seal takes a set, the plastic hardens, and the thread on the cap gets stripped by being forced shut against a seal that no longer compresses. From that point on the cap either weeps or refuses to stay tight, and no amount of extra force improves it.
Because the two parts come together, you are not left trying to match a new cap to a tired insert or the other way round. Fit them cold, hand tight, and watch the rim for weeping before the machine goes back into regular use.
