Three complaints send owners of a SEBO AUTOMATIC X4 to this part. A roller that rocks in its seat. A drive belt that keeps creeping toward one side. A lever that will not let go when there is hair to cut off the bristles. All three trace back to 5713SW, the black brush roller release, which SEBO writes up at item 114 as the onyx version — onyx being the company's own name for this finish.

The lever is the reason a roller can be taken out with bare hands. It pulls the roller square into its bearings and holds it there against the pull of the drive, so once the locking face has worn round the roller gains enough freedom to shift under load. From there it rubs where it should not, and the belt stops tracking centrally, which is why what starts as a worn lever is so often reported as a belt problem. Drive on this machine reaches the roller in two stages, from the motor pulley to the sensor pulley and from there down to the roller itself, so anything loose at the roller end shows up quickly in how the belts sit.
