Product details
Part 5208 is the filter safety catch, the small sprung latch that holds the microfilter holder shut across SEBO's AUTOMATIC X series and ESSENTIAL G series uprights. It is drawn at position 25 in the AUTOMATIC X7 X8 diagram and at position 32 in the ESSENTIAL G4 G5 diagram, where it is listed as the complete catch.
The catch is what stops the filter compartment easing open under vibration. Once the latch is broken or its tab has snapped off, the holder sits proud of its seat, air finds a way around the media rather than through it, and fine dust ends up past the filter and into the motor's air. The give-away is a filter door that pops open mid-clean, or one that has to be held shut while the machine runs. A new catch brings back positive closure and takes only a few minutes to fit.

If the holder has been springing open rather than failing to latch, change the return spring, 5210, at the same time. The two work as a pair and a new catch will not hold against a tired spring.
