Order code 5482GS is the full gray black chassis for the cleaning head, covering the AUTOMATIC X4, the X4 Boost and the AUTOMATIC X1. Support screws are not part of the supply. Everything else in the head hangs on this frame, which is why its condition governs how squarely the brush roll, the wheels and the motor all sit.
Frames end their lives through impact more than age: a fall onto tile, a threshold hit at walking pace, or a decade of being backed into skirting boards and table legs. Once the moulding has twisted or split, the head no longer meets the floor evenly. The brush strip touches heavily at one end and barely at the other, the machine leans toward one side as it runs, and no amount of pile height adjustment corrects it. A structural crack is not a candidate for repair — the frame either holds the assembly true or it needs renewing.
Strip the old frame methodically and lay the fasteners out in the order they come off. Since screws are not included here, keep the originals safe or have equivalents ready before starting, and check the swivel neck supports at the same time because they mount to this frame.
