Product details
The orange pedal at the base of the machine is what unlocks the handle so an upright can be reclined and pushed. Part 5059OR is the replacement, carried at position 117 in SEBO's AUTOMATIC X4/X5 diagram and at position 119 in the ESSENTIAL G4/G5 diagram.
It is stood on thousands of times over a machine's life, and it eventually snaps at the hinge or loses the tab that engages the latch. The tell is a handle that flops loose in use, or one that refuses to release at all and has to be forced back. Either way the machine becomes awkward to steer long before anything else has worn out. A new pedal brings back a positive click in both directions and comes out with a screwdriver.

Before ordering the pedal alone, check what the spring and the axle look like. If the return spring has lost its tension the new pedal will feel just as vague as the old one; that spring is part 2010, with 5103 as the other spring in the same corner of the machine, and the bare axle is 5053. Where the wheels and axle have worn too, SEBO supplies the whole rear group as 5051GS in gray black for the AUTOMATIC X uprights and 5051HG in light gray for the ESSENTIAL G.
The same orange pedal answers searches for a SEBO AUTOMATIC X4 foot pedal, an ESSENTIAL G4 handle release, an X2 recline pedal, or simply SEBO part 5059OR.
