Part CM031000 is the screw that holds the handle release spring on CleanMax CMPS Pro Series uprights, sold individually. The spring returns the handle catch after the machine is laid back, so the fastener retaining it takes a small load cycle every single time the vacuum is used.
A missing or stripped screw here usually turns up as a handle that will not lock upright, or one that will not release cleanly when you step on the pedal. It costs little enough to keep in the service kit alongside the spring itself, which is stocked as B283-5200 and shared across Simplicity, Fuller Brush, Carpet Pro and CleanMax uprights.
