Erratic behavior that survives a new cord, a fresh switch and a clean filter path generally ends up at the board. Part 2881ER is SEBO's computer controller for the ESSENTIAL G1 and the ESSENTIAL G2 — the electronics module that runs the machine's control functions and the piece that has to be replaced as a unit when it fails.
Treat it as the diagnosis of last resort rather than the first guess. A loose connection upstream produces exactly the same intermittent behavior as a failing board, and it is far cheaper to rule out. Work through the power cord 5450DG, the switch 05113 with its cap 5160GS and holder 5161HG, the handle cable 5298ER, and the contacts passing through the swivel neck, where holder 2883UL keeps the male contacts positioned. Ribbon cable 0864 and PCB power supply 2890ER are the other two electrical items in the same chain, and a bad ribbon connection is a common impostor for a dead controller.
When the board really is the fault, unplug the machine at the outlet and photograph every connector and lead route before anything is pulled off the old one — connector positions are much harder to reconstruct after the fact than they look while the machine is still assembled. Keep the leads in the same channels on reassembly so nothing is trapped when the housing closes.
