Product details
Part 765525W is Hayden's 45-degree wye, shaped like a Y rather than a straight branch fitting. Where a tee brings a branch line into a trunk at a hard right angle, a wye merges it in at 45 degrees, so debris entering the branch joins the main airflow instead of running straight into it.
That geometry is why installers reach for a wye instead of a tee at most branch-to-trunk connections. A central vacuum carries dirt on airflow alone, with no auger or water helping it along, so any spot where the airstream has to change direction sharply is a spot where velocity drops and debris has a chance to settle rather than keep moving toward the power unit. A gentler merge keeps the load in motion through the junction instead of stalling it there.
This is a generic fitting sized to standard 2-inch outside-diameter central vacuum PVC pipe, so it pairs with whatever pipe is already run in the wall rather than one specific power unit brand. Dry-fit the wye before committing cement, and pay attention to orientation: the branch has to enter in the direction the airflow is actually traveling, not against it, or the fitting behaves like a plain tee and gives up most of the advantage it has over one.
Clean and prime both mating surfaces before applying cement, and rotate the fitting a quarter turn as you seat it to spread the cement evenly around the joint. A wye that is only partially welded around its circumference is a slow leak waiting to happen, and a leak at a branch junction pulls suction from every inlet fed downstream of it.
- Part: 765525W, Hayden 45-degree wye
- Fits: standard 2-inch OD central vacuum PVC pipe systems (verify your existing pipe diameter before ordering)
- Construction: solvent-weld sockets, white PVC
- Use: merging a branch line into a trunk line at a shallow angle to keep debris moving
