SEBO End Plate for the Duo

End plates close out an assembly and hold its contents in place, which is why a damaged one causes trouble out of all proportion to its size. Part 3040 is SEBO's end plate for the Duo brush machine, drawn at position 65 of the Duo parts diagram, immediately after the clip 3071 at 64 and immediately before the pulley 3009 at 66.

Cracks around the mounting points are the usual failure, and they rarely announce themselves. Once the plate no longer clamps down squarely, the components behind it gain a little freedom to move, and that freedom turns into noise, misalignment and wear that carries on into the gear wheels, shafts and bearing blocks further along the drive. A machine that has started to rattle or knock at one end of the head, with no obvious culprit at the brush roller, is worth stripping to this point. The plate is also easy to break on the way out if it is levered rather than unbolted, which is why a good many are ordered as part of an otherwise unrelated repair. Fitting a sound plate puts the whole group back under proper control instead of leaving it half-restrained.
