Supplied with its spring, this handle socket assembly replaces the joint where the handle meets the machine body on Eureka and Sanitaire commercial uprights in the C4046 family and the SC899 family, part number 36648A2.

A cracked socket, or a spring that has lost its tension, makes the whole vacuum feel unstable: the handle sways side to side, refuses to stay upright unassisted, or drops on its own while you are working. Fit the supplied spring rather than reusing the old one, since a tired spring will make a new socket feel loose from the first day.
