Product details
Between the swivel neck and the body of an AUTOMATIC X7 Premium, AUTOMATIC X7 Pet or AUTOMATIC X8 sits a thin felt pad, part number 52052, that takes up the contact between the two mouldings. SEBO lists it at position 120 in the AUTOMATIC X7 X8 parts diagram.
Felt flattens with use. Once it has compressed or torn away, the neck meets the body with nothing between them, so the joint feels slack, knocks as you steer and no longer closes as tightly as it did when new. On a machine that pivots at that joint through every stroke, a small loss of thickness is enough to be felt through the handle and heard across a hard floor. It is an inexpensive item and is usually fitted while the neck is already apart for other work rather than as a job on its own.
- Part number: 52052
- Material: felt
- Location: the interface where the swivel neck seats onto the chassis
- Diagram position: 120, AUTOMATIC X7 X8
- Fits: SEBO AUTOMATIC X7 Premium and X7 Pet, and the AUTOMATIC X8

Clear the old residue and dust off the seat before laying the new strip down, or it will not sit flat and will start lifting at one end. If the neck still feels loose with fresh felt in place, the bearings and the two neck supports are the next things to look at, and the reed switch in the right-hand support is worth checking while the assembly is open.
