Turbo Cat Elbow - Zoom EX A...

Product details

TurboCat's Zoom EX head spins its brush roll purely on airflow, no motor built into the nozzle itself, and the fitting linking wand to head, sold as part 8423-01, carries every bit of that air on its way in.

An elbow lives where the leverage is worst. The nozzle stays planted on the carpet while the machine gets pulled sideways around furniture, and the connection takes what that movement asks of it. A crack anywhere along it lets the turbine draw part of its supply from open room air instead of from the floor, and the brush roll noticeably slows even while everything at the hose end still feels close to normal.

That is exactly what makes the problem easy to misdiagnose. Nothing changes at the canister or backpack, since the leak happens downstream at the nozzle rather than anywhere near the source of suction, so a sluggish head gets blamed on the turbine or the brush first far more often than it should.

Spin the brush roll by hand on a nozzle that has gone sluggish; if it still turns freely, check this fitting for a split before ordering turbine parts. A hairline crack can be easy to miss, so flex the joint gently and look along its full length in good light.

  • Part: 8423-01, wand-to-nozzle elbow
  • Fits: TurboCat Zoom EX air-driven power nozzle
  • Function: carries the airflow that drives the turbine and brush roll
  • Symptom: brush roll turns slower despite normal suction at the machine
