Gouged, cupped or split along the leading edge, a worn sole plate costs a machine more suction than most owners would guess. Part 50434HGER is the light gray front bottom plate made for the SEBO 350 Mechanical, position 114 in that model's drawing, and it is the only component in permanent contact with the floor.
The plate does two jobs at once. It sets how close the nozzle rides to the carpet, and it forms the front lip of the brush roll opening. When it wears through, air slips in ahead of the bristles instead of being pulled through them, so the head is moving plenty of air and cleaning with very little of it. Owners notice fibres left behind on a second pass long before they think to turn the machine over. On hard floors the failure is more obvious: roughened plastic starts leaving scuff marks in the finish. A flat new plate restores the seal and the pickup that goes with it.
Plates differ between models, so order against your machine's number rather than by shape.
