Part 5805SE arrives built up as one light gray assembly rather than as loose mouldings, which turns a bench job into a short swap. It is the complete front panel for the ESSENTIAL G1 and G2 and for the AUTOMATIC X1 and X2.

One condition comes attached and it matters. On the two ESSENTIAL machines the panel simply goes on. For the AUTOMATIC X1 and X2 the story differs: the panel has to go on alongside bag housing 5214HG, because it is sized around that housing, and the note appears against both codes in the catalogue. Put the panel by itself onto an early X machine and the front will not close down correctly onto the bag compartment, so for those two models the pair is ordered together.

Buying the assembly also removes the fiddliest part of this repair, which is lining a catch up against a panel that has been built from loose mouldings. Everything arrives set up, so the door either closes cleanly or the housing behind it is what needs attention.

The front panel holds the bag compartment shut and seals the airway at the front of the machine. A cracked moulding or a tired catch shows up first as a door that no longer sits flush, then as air drawn in around the edge rather than through the bag, which takes the edge off the nozzle with no blockage anywhere to be found.
