Ten gray black grommets under one number: 5359GS covers the cable pass-throughs on SEBO's AUTOMATIC X uprights, on the FELIX fitted with the later handle, and on the DART.
A grommet is the rubber liner that sits in a hole in the moulding wherever a cable has to cross from one section of the machine into another. Its whole purpose is to give the cable a rounded, slightly yielding bearing surface in place of a hard plastic edge. Heat and years take the flexibility out of the rubber; it shrinks, loses its grip on the panel, then splits. From that point the cable lies directly on the rim of the opening, and every push and pull of ordinary use draws the outer jacket across it until the sheath thins and the insulation beneath is at risk. On a machine that has already lost one, the cable is usually marked at exactly that spot.
Anybody who opens one of these machines tends to find the whole set in the same state, which is the case for buying ten rather than one: renew every pass-through in the machine in a single visit and keep the balance for the next service. Disconnect the machine from the outlet before touching anything on the cord run. On the AUTOMATIC X uprights this grommet is catalogued in the same handle and cord-entry group as the cable clamp 5162 and the switch cap holder 5161GS, which is a useful landmark when working from the parts drawing.
