Product details
Position 32 on SEBO's AUTOMATIC X4/X5 parts diagram is the handle catch, and 1859GS is that catch moulded in gray black. It is the latch holding the upright handle at each of its set positions: locked vertical for storage, released to the cleaning angle, and flat for reaching under furniture. The machine steers where you point it because this catch keeps the handle where you left it.
Every push and pull of the handle loads the same two small contact faces. After enough years of that the plastic rounds off, chips at an edge, or loses its bite altogether. The handle then drifts out of position mid-pass, drops forward under its own weight, or refuses to click home when the machine is stood up. None of that is a fault in the handle tube itself, which is why the catch is the part to change and the small one to change. A new one restores the firm detent the upright had when it left the factory.
Fitment runs wider than the diagram name suggests. Beyond the AUTOMATIC X4, AUTOMATIC X4 Boost and AUTOMATIC X5 covered by that X4/X5 sheet, the same gray black catch is listed for the 370 COMFORT and the ELECTRONIC 370, which makes it a useful number to keep on the shelf for anyone looking after more than one SEBO upright. The X4/X5 heading belongs to the diagram rather than to the fitment list.

No special tooling is needed and the replacement seats exactly where the original sat. The base number stays the same and the suffix carries the finish. Genuine SEBO part, shipped in 2-5 business days.
