Part 36172040 is the cord retainer clamp for Hoover Conquest, Guardsman and Professional commercial uprights. It is the small clamp that grips the power cord where it enters the housing so that the clamp takes the strain rather than the wiring behind it.
Lose that clamp and the cord is free to flex right at its anchor point every time the machine is moved. The jacket chafes through first, then the conductors inside start breaking down, and what began as a missing clip turns into intermittent power or a live cord fault.
It fits the Conquest C1800, C1800010, C1800020, C1805, C1810, C1810010, C1810020, C1815 and C1820, the C1119 and C1119-080 industrial uprights, the C1431 and C1431010 Guardsman, the C1433010, C1627, C1629, C1631, C1632, C1633 and C1634, the CH1800010 and CH1810010, and the U7069 including its -040 and -065 variants.
