The dirt cup lid assembly for the Hoover UH71009 bagless upright, part 410124001. It is the lid that seals the top of the cup and keeps what you have picked up inside it.
Lids on bagless machines lead a hard life, because the cup is knocked against the bin every time it is emptied and the lid is the part catching the edge. A hairline crack or a slightly warped rim is all it takes: dust puffs back into the room as you clean, the cup no longer holds a full load before it starts spilling, and fine debris settles in the housing around the cup instead of in the bin.
If you wash the cup, dry it completely before fitting a new lid. Trapped moisture is what turns ordinary dust into the sticky film that stops a lid sealing in the first place.
