Handle hardware for Hoover SteamVac carpet cleaners in the F5800 and F5900 series, sold as a two-pack under part 40201245. It fits the F5874-900, F5893-900, F5894-900, F5899-100 and F5906-900, along with the F5915 and F5917.
Handle hardware on a carpet cleaner works loose because the machine is pushed and pulled wet, with the weight of two full tanks behind it. Once it does, the handle rocks in its mounting, the joint wallows out, and steering the machine in a straight line takes real effort.
Catch it early. A wobbly handle re-tightened onto worn hardware will keep working loose until the mounting itself cracks, and at that point it becomes a housing repair rather than a two-minute one. Snug each fastener evenly so the handle sits square before you fill the tanks again.
