Blue to match the machine, this is the top bag adaptor for the Kirby Tradition, part 190479S, covering the 3CB Tradition. The adaptor is the moulded collar the paper bag mounts to at the top of the bag assembly, and it is what holds the bag mouth open and sealed against the incoming air.
It is a handling part, not a wearing one. Every bag change means gripping it, flexing it and clipping something into it, and over enough years the plastic cracks at the collar or a clip breaks off. After that the bag will not sit square, and air finds its way past the mouth instead of through the bag, leaving dust loose inside the outer cloth bag.
If the adaptor has broken, look at the neck gasket underneath while you have the assembly apart.
