The four-piece Lexan fan, part 119078A, is the genuine Kirby impeller for the 505 through 515 machines, and it also serves the 1CB, 1CR, 2CB and 3CB classics, the Dual Sanitronic 50 and 80, the Heritage II Legend and the Legend II.
Fans crack. All it takes is a coin, a screw or a piece of gravel going up the nozzle at full speed and the blade takes a chip or a split. What you hear afterwards is a rattle or a vibration that was not there before; what you feel is suction that has dropped off sharply.
Run a damaged fan and the imbalance works on the motor shaft and bearings, so it is worth dealing with promptly. Lexan is the tougher material Kirby moved to. Check the fan for hairline cracks any time suction changes suddenly.
