Every knock the nozzle takes against furniture legs, baseboards and door frames lands on a plastic scuff plate mounted at the front of a Kirby Sentria's housing. 111208 is the replacement plate. Once that plate wears through or splits, protection stops working both ways at once. The housing underneath starts absorbing impacts directly, and the plate's ragged edge starts leaving marks on the trim and furniture it used to glide past instead.
Wear tends to show up first as a dulling of the plate's finish, well before an actual split appears. A plate that looks scuffed and matte rather than smooth and shiny is further along toward failure than a quick glance would suggest, and catching it at that stage costs a lot less than waiting for the crack.
Swapping the plate onto the same mounting points takes just a few minutes, and doing it as soon as wear shows makes sense given what it is protecting, since a damaged nozzle housing runs far more to replace than the plate itself.
Wipe down the mounting surface before fitting the new plate, since leftover grit underneath can keep it from sitting flush and cause it to crack again in the same place. A plate sitting proud at one corner instead of flat all around usually means it was not pressed fully into place during an earlier repair, and that raised corner will fail again faster than a properly seated plate wears out under ordinary use.
