Mounted straight onto the motor shaft, SEBO 3222 is the DISCO motor pulley, item 19 on that machine's parts diagram. It is the small component that takes rotation from the motor and hands it to the drive belt, which makes it one of the few parts on the polisher that is turning every second the machine is switched on.
A pulley with a chewed, grooved or polished face cannot grip a belt cleanly any more. The belt slips under load, the drive runs slow while the motor note stays exactly the same, and the damaged surface then works through new belts far faster than it should. That last symptom is the useful one: a machine that eats belts is telling you the pulley has been the problem all along. Renewing the pulley and the belt, part 3221, at the same visit is the usual repair, and it saves stripping the same section of the machine twice. Check the shaft and the fit of the pulley on it as well: a pulley that has been running loose leaves marks on the shaft, and a new component pressed onto a damaged one will not stay tight for long.
