Product details

Ten o-rings ship as part HS500122, cut from 218 duro 70 Buna-N nitrile and sized for the Hide A Hose mini cuff. They fit either cuff in the current lineup, the black 1-1/4 inch HS5000H4 used on SmartSoc hoses or the blue 1-3/8 inch HS5000H5 used on Rapid Flex.

Their job is friction rather than sealing. One or two rings sit on the cuff and give the valve door something to grip as it closes against the hose end, so the hose holds where it was left instead of creeping. Hide A Hose treats them as optional, added when a door closes loosely on a cuff.

Rubber hardens and flattens with age, and a ring that has gone stiff stops doing that job while still looking intact from the outside. A hose that slips at the valve, or a door that closes with noticeably less resistance than it used to, is the usual sign that the rings have had their day.

Ten in a pack covers every cuff in a house with spares left over. Fit them one at a time and stop at two per cuff, since more than that changes how the door meets the hose end. Have the cuff off the hose when you fit them, because rolling a ring onto a cuff that is still screwed into the hose tends to twist it out of shape.
