The lower handle tube is the section that runs from the body of an Oreck UK30270 upright to the upper grip. It carries the whole steering load of the machine, and Oreck sells it as part 430001075.

Tubes bend when the vacuum goes over, and they crack around the fixing holes after years of leverage at the top and bottom. The symptom is a handle that has developed play: it moves before the machine does, or the vacuum wanders instead of following where you point it. Left alone, a cracked tube eventually lets the handle separate under load.

This tube is listed for the UK30270 upright. The handle release, the cord hooks and the fixing hardware are separate parts, so plan to move yours across to the new tube as you fit it.
