Product details

A Rainbow E2 power nozzle that starts dragging on carpet or skating across hard floors instead of gliding usually has a problem at the sole plate rather than the motor or belt. Part R11909 replaces the rear half of that plate, wheels pre-installed, snapped together as a single assembly rather than requiring separate wheel installation.

This panel absorbs most of the scuffing a power nozzle takes at floor level. Hair and thread wind around the wheel axles until a wheel binds or wears down flat on one side, and the plastic itself splits where the nozzle has caught on a doorway threshold or been yanked sideways. A wheel that no longer spins freely turns rolling contact into dragging contact, gouging carpet fibers on one surface and sliding across a hard floor on the next. A cracked plate adds a second problem on top of that: it drops how high the nozzle rides, so the brush no longer reaches the carpet the same amount across its whole width, leaving thin streaks that never quite get picked up.

Clearing hair and thread out of both wheels on a routine basis, rather than waiting for one to seize solid, keeps a dragging wheel from chewing up the plate around it faster than a free-spinning one would.

Fitting the rear plate as one complete assembly brings back the ride height and glide the nozzle carried when new, without hunting down and pressing in wheels separately. Confirm the plate seats fully and both wheels turn freely before putting the nozzle back to work.

  • Part: R11909, rear sole plate with wheels, snap-together assembly
  • Fits: Rainbow E2 power nozzle
  • Symptom of failure: nozzle drags or skates instead of gliding, uneven brush contact with carpet
  • Cause: seized wheels or a cracked plate at the wear points
