Product details

Part D220-4100 is the geared shaft motor that turns the brush roll on the Riccar and Simplicity R10P lightweight upright. Its job is agitation rather than airflow, so a fault in it shows up as a roller that stops working while suction carries on as normal.

When a drive motor of this kind wears out, the brush roll slows, stalls, or stops turning altogether. Watch for grinding or squealing from the nozzle area, a scorched electrical odor, or a roller that will not spin under load. Those are motor symptoms rather than airflow symptoms, which is why they do not improve with a clean filter or an empty bag, and why suction alone is a poor test of whether this part is healthy.

  • Part: geared shaft brushroll motor, part D220-4100
  • Fits: Riccar R10P, Simplicity R10P lightweight upright
  • Symptom: brush roll slows, stalls, or refuses to turn while suction stays normal
  • Before ordering: clear the roller of wrapped hair and thread and confirm it spins freely by hand, so you are not replacing a motor that is only bogged down

Once the drive motor itself is confirmed as the cause, this replacement restores full brush roll agitation on the R10P. Keep the old motor until the new one is running so you can compare the two if anything about the fit looks different.
