The R10P lightweight upright uses a geared shaft motor to spin its brush roll, and when that motor gives out the machine still makes suction but simply stops deep-cleaning carpet. Grinding noises, a burning smell, or a brush roll that will not turn with a fresh belt all point here. This genuine Tacony geared shaft motor is the exact drive unit the R10P was built around — the gear interface matches precisely, so the repair returns the nozzle to full agitation. Part #D220-4100.
