What makes the ET-1 an electric power head rather than a plain air-driven brush is that its own built-in motor turns the roll, instead of the roll depending on suction to spin. A motor-driven brush keeps agitating carpet pile at a steady rate whether the pile is thin or thick, where an air-driven brush slows as the airflow it depends on gets restricted. The parquet brush trades that brush roll for soft bristles, so hard flooring gets swept rather than scrubbed.

Being a bagged machine matters at disposal more than at pickup. Debris collects inside a bag that seals as it comes out of the canister, so what the vacuum picked up off the floor does not get handled twice. That also keeps the exhaust filter working on air that has already passed through paper rather than straight off the floor, part of why a bagged canister's filter tends to stay cleaner for longer between changes. The practical effect over a year of ordinary use is fewer filter interventions, with the bag doing work a washable filter would otherwise be asked to take on.
