Hoover's Paws & Claws Enzymatic Carpet Shampoo, part AH31981, is a 64-ounce pet carpet cleaning solution made to be run through a Hoover carpet cleaning machine or extractor rather than applied straight to carpet.
The formula is built around enzyme cleaners instead of surfactants alone. Enzymes target pet accidents specifically because they break down the organic matter in urine, feces and vomit rather than just covering the smell, which is why a plain detergent shampoo can leave odor behind even after the visible stain is gone.
Dilute to your machine's own fill line in the solution tank. Treat pet accidents as soon as you find them where possible, since enzyme cleaners work faster on matter that has not fully dried into the fibers. For heavier accidents, a light pretreatment pass over the spot before running the machine gives the enzymes extra contact time on set-in material, because one quick pass does not always leave the formula in contact with a stain long enough to break it down.
