Switch - Buster 'B' Oreck

Product details
The on/off switch from the Oreck Buster B canister vacuum, part 430000966. It is the mechanical control that makes and breaks power to the motor, and it is the part most often behind a canister that has simply stopped responding.
Switches fail from use rather than age. Every press draws a small arc across the contacts, and after a few thousand cycles the contacts pit and the mechanism loses its snap. What you get is a machine that needs the switch held or nudged to keep running, one that cuts out when the canister is dragged over a threshold, or one that is dead with a good cord and a live outlet.
Replacing the switch is the usual fix once the plug and cord have been ruled out. Unplug the vacuum before opening the housing; this is an electrical repair and the machine has to be off the mains.
