Hide A Hose Valve Trim Swit...

Product details
Part HS5000V-S is the small switch assembly built into the valve trim of a Hide-A-Hose HS5000 series inlet. Sliding a hose into the inlet closes this switch, and that closed circuit is what tells the power unit in the utility room or garage to spin up.
A failing switch produces a confusing complaint. Everything looks normal at the wall, the hose seats, yet the machine never starts, and the power unit gets blamed for a problem that is actually happening at the inlet. A useful test is trying a different inlet on the same system: if the unit starts fine from another valve but not this one, the fault sits at this switch rather than in the motor or wiring back to the unit.
Corrosion on the contacts, a contact bent by a hose end pushed in crooked, or plain wear after thousands of insertions over the years are the usual causes. None of it involves line voltage, since this circuit runs on low-voltage current between the inlet and the power unit rather than household wiring.
Before ordering, make sure your inlets belong to the HS5000 series. The trim hardware, including this switch, is matched to that valve line, so check the valve body or the paperwork from the install if you are unsure which series is in your walls.
