Part D475-0400 combines the belt idler and the Hall sensor in a single assembly, listed for the Riccar Brilliance and Radiance, the Simplicity Synchrony and Synergy, and carried as well under the Maytag M1200. The idler keeps the drive belt riding under load as it lengthens gradually with normal use.
The Hall sensor is the electrical half of the same part. A Hall sensor reads a magnetic field rather than touching what it measures, which is why the type turns up in drive assemblies where a mechanical switch would wear out.
