Product details
This is a replacement suction motor fan for the Maytag M1200, sold as part number B486-1214. The same fan is used in two-motor Riccar and Simplicity uprights that share the M1200's motor.
The fan mounts directly on the suction motor shaft and is the piece that actually moves the air through the machine; the motor only spins it. A chipped blade, a hairline crack near the hub, or a fan that has worked loose on the shaft throws the assembly out of balance, and an unbalanced fan at full motor speed shows up first as noise and vibration you can feel through the housing, then as a drop in suction that gets worse the longer the machine runs. Because the fan and motor spin as one unit, any imbalance here also shortens the life of the motor bearings, so a failing fan is worth replacing before it takes the motor down with it.
- Part: suction motor fan, part number B486-1214
- Fits: Maytag M1200 and two-motor Riccar/Simplicity uprights using the same motor
- Function: mounted on the motor shaft, generates the machine's suction airflow
- Install: seat the fan squarely on a clean shaft so it spins true
Verify your motor's model before ordering, because fan sizing is specific to the motor it drives, and run the machine briefly after installation to confirm the replacement spins smoothly with no new noise.
