This is the area rug brush roll for the Bissell CrossWave, part 1608017, the softer carpet-specific roller rather than the multi-surface one. It fits the CrossWave 1785 machines, the 2306 and 2328 Pet Pro models and the 2551 cordless.
Swapping to the rug roller matters because a CrossWave washes and vacuums in the same pass. On an area rug you want the bristles working the pile without soaking or fraying it, and a worn roller stops doing either: the rug comes up wet in patches, dirt stays down in the base of the pile, and the machine leaves streaks instead of even damp lines.
Rinse it after use and stand it in the tray to dry. A roller left wet in the machine mats down and starts to smell long before the bristles are genuinely worn out.
