This armature is a replacement for the motor in a Kirby Classic 1CR upright, part number 114969. The armature is the wound, rotating core of the vacuum's motor, and it does the actual spinning that produces suction and drives the machine.
A worn or failing armature typically shows up as reduced suction, a grinding or growling noise from the motor, a burning electrical smell, or a motor that refuses to spin up when you switch it on. Because the armature sits at the center of the motor, these symptoms tend to be unmistakable rather than subtle.
