Part 558499A is the neutral/drive pedal assembly for Kirby Generation machines, the version with the gray housing and gray left pedal against a black right pedal. It is the foot control that puts the Tech-Drive into gear or lets it sit in neutral.
What owners notice first is a change in feel. The pedal goes spongy, sticks in one position, or snaps at the pivot and stops selecting anything at all. From there the machine either drives when it should be parked or never propels at all, which is easily mistaken for a failing transmission.
It fits the Kirby Generation series, Generation 3 through G6, along with the Ultimate G, Diamond Edition and Sentria, and is also numbered 558499.
