This blue handle fork back cover plate (Part #174579) snaps over the back of the handle fork on vintage Kirby uprights. It gives the fork a finished look and shields the internal fork mechanism from dust, and it fits models from the 505 through the Tradition 3CB.
Once the cover plate cracks off, the exposed fork looks rough and can snag on clothing or cleaning cloths as you work. A fresh plate snaps back into place to cover the mechanism and restore a clean appearance. It also keeps dust out of the fork area.
