Bearings announce themselves before they fail: a dry rumble that changes pitch with the brush roll, or a roll that can be rocked at one end once the machine is tipped over. SEBO 5766HG is the left-hand bearing block, supplied complete, and it is listed for AUTOMATIC X1, AUTOMATIC X4 and AUTOMATIC X4 Boost uprights and for the ESSENTIAL G1, ESSENTIAL G2, ESSENTIAL G4 and ESSENTIAL G5.
This block carries the left spindle of the brush roll and holds it square to the floor. Once worn, the roll no longer turns on a true axis: one end digs into the carpet while the other skims it, the belt begins running off centre, and the extra friction is paid for by the motor. Fitting new blocks at both ends in the same session is the usual approach, because a fresh part working against a worn one leaves the slack exactly where it was, only on the opposite side. Right-hand blocks are trim-specific and carry separate numbers — 5031WE, 5031DR1, 5031GS, 5031SW2 and 5031HG among them — so the pair is ordered as two lines rather than as one kit.
