SEBO Bag Holder Locking Rod...

Product details

Inside the bag compartment a slim rod clamps the dust bag collar down so it cannot lift off the inlet while the machine runs. SEBO 5083 is that locking rod, and it is one of the few pieces carried unchanged across both upright families, which is why the same number covers a twelve-year-old machine and a current one. It sits in the AUTOMATIC X4/X5 exploded drawing at position 46 and in the ESSENTIAL G4/G5 drawing at position 26.

The rod is loaded by a spring and swung aside at every bag change, so it fails in predictable ways: bent out of line by a bag pushed in at an angle, worn round at the tip, or simply lost during a hurried change. Any of those lets the collar creep off the inlet. What the owner notices is a bag that keeps working loose, a fine dust line around the inlet mouth, or a compartment that needs wiping out every few bags. The dust getting past there does not vanish, it loads the pre-motor microfilter instead, so the machine also starts feeling short of suction. Fitting a new locking rod is a few minutes of work with the compartment open.

  • SEBO part number 5083, bag holder locking rod, supplied as a single piece
  • Fits the SEBO AUTOMATIC X1, X2, X4, X4 Boost, X5, X7 Premium, X7 Pet and X8
  • Fits the SEBO ESSENTIAL G1, G2, G4 and G5
  • Diagram position 46 in the AUTOMATIC X4/X5 parts drawing, position 26 in the ESSENTIAL G4/G5 drawing
  • Works against SEBO 5084, the tension spring made for this rod
  • Neighbouring bag compartment numbers: 5319 bag holder spring, 5324 complete bag holder, 5360 safety catch, 5091 safety catch spring
  • Genuine SEBO part supplied by an authorized dealer; ships in 2-5 business days

If the rod has been bent, look at the spring behind it before the compartment goes back together. SEBO 5084 tires at roughly the same rate and the pair are normally renewed in one go. A machine that has been running with a loose bag usually wants a fresh bag as well, and the 5093AM filter bag box covers that with eight bags and caps. Search terms owners use for this component include SEBO locking rod, bag holder rod replacement and genuine SEBO 5083.
