A small but essential piece of hardware: the E-ring retaining clip, Bissell part 2032548, listed for the 1699 extractor and used widely across Bissell's uprights. E-clips snap into a groove on a shaft or axle and stop whatever rides on it from walking off sideways.
They are the part that pings across the floor during a repair and is never seen again, and the part that fatigues and lets go after years of vibration. A missing clip shows up as a wheel, roller or pivot pin drifting out of position, a new rattle from the base, or a component that comes loose in your hand as you take the machine apart.
