Dump cap for the Hoover PowerDash FH50700 carpet washer, part 440012798, covering the FH50700CDI as well. It is the cap that closes the tank drain.
A dump cap has one job: hold a seal while the machine is tipped, carried and set back down full of dirty water. When the gasket flattens or the cap cracks at the thread, waste solution works its way out during use, and you find a trail across carpet you have only just finished cleaning. It is an easy fault to blame on the tank itself.
Check the sealing face for splits and the gasket for hardening before you order, then seat the new cap fully. A fair number of leaks on a perfectly good cap come down to one that was never turned home.
