An upright is steered at its neck, and that neck is held by a support on each side. Order code 5479 is the left-hand one, arriving with a single screw and seal 5718, and it is the version matched to chassis 5482GS. The drawings place it at item 110 on the AUTOMATIC X4/X5 sheet and at item 111 on the ESSENTIAL G4/G5 sheet.

Both sheets show the same layout. This support works together with the left-hand neck bearing 5717 at the item beside it, and the machine's internal wiring threads through the neck just behind the pair. That is why a split or loosened support is worth catching early. The handle picks up play, direction changes need correcting rather than simply happening, and the slack that has opened at the joint is taken up by the cable passing through it — one repair quietly becoming two.

Test for it with the machine standing upright: hold the base still and move the handle from side to side. Movement that feels loose, or a knock coming from one side of the neck, is the sign. Supports are often renewed in pairs, since both have done identical work over identical years.
