The Bissell ProHeat Revolution carries suction and solution through one hose assembly, part 1606420. It fits the 1548, 1550 and 1551, the 1964, 1986 and 1986C, and the 3579 and 3586.
Hoses on a carpet cleaner lead a hard life: walked on, folded into the storage clip, dragged around furniture legs. A split in the wall or a perished cuff lets air in, and the tool end loses the pull it needs to draw dirty water back out of the carpet. Solution leaks show up as a wet patch on the body of the machine while the spray at the tool goes weak.
If the upright cleans normally but the hand tool does not, the hose is the first thing to check. Swapping the complete assembly renews the cuffs at both ends as well as the tube itself.
