The left-hand end cap on the brush housing is what holds the roller captive in the power head, and 52134GS renews it in gray black for the SEBO AUTOMATIC X8. It closes that side of the housing over the roller end and the bearing behind it.
End caps break at the clip, and they break for a predictable reason. Hair wraps around the roller end faster than anywhere else on the machine, so this cap gets levered off for cleaning more often than any other part of the head, and eventually a tab lets go. From that point the roller can shift sideways in its seat, the bristle pattern laid across the carpet goes uneven, and grit reaches the bearing the cap was there to shield. A cover held on with tape or missing entirely is quietly shortening the life of the parts underneath it.
Those parts are worth knowing by number while you have the head apart. Directly behind this cap is the complete left-hand bearing block 52121, and SEBO lists the sealed bearing separately as 52131; the left-hand brush roller release knob on the same end is 52224DB, and the right-hand release ring with its spring is 52033ER. Belt 5110 drives the roller from that side too, so a cap that has been off for a while has usually let dust onto the belt path as well.
