Lost suction with nothing blocking the airway usually comes down to rubber that has gone hard, and 5842 is the seal working between the bag housing and the internal cover.

Seals in a bagged vacuum all exist for one reason: to make the air go through the filter bag instead of around it. Once this one stiffens it no longer closes the small gap left at the cover, part of the flow slips round the bag, so the nozzle loses its bite while the bag itself stays oddly light. The seal is item 40 on the shared AUTOMATIC X4 X5 sheet, where the internal cover assembly at item 26 is listed as taking in positions 40 and 41 — which is to say it normally forms part of that assembly and is also stocked alone for exactly this repair.

Clean the groove before the new one goes in so it beds flat along its whole length; a seal laid over old debris leaks much like a hardened one. Front cover seal 5454 is a separate code doing related work, and a machine that has quietly lost suction generally has more than one tired seal in it.
