It is the small spring that keeps the rod pressed down onto the dust bag collar on the AUTOMATIC X and ESSENTIAL G uprights, and SEBO draws it at position 39 in the AUTOMATIC X7/X8 diagram and position 24 in the ESSENTIAL G4/G5 diagram.
Springs of this size have a finite number of cycles in them, and this one is compressed and released at every single bag change. Once it has lost its set the rod rests slack against the collar rather than clamping it, and the bag can then walk off the inlet during use.
